Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 3 – 5 large apples
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup (100g) AJ’s Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Flaky pie crust (Blätterteig works well)

Recipe

Preheat the oven to 220 °C

Core, peel and slice the apples.
In a large bowl, stir together the apple slices, the cinnamon, lemon juice and the brown sugar.

Fill a 9 inch (22 cm) pie tin with pie crust, bake the empty shell for 5 min in the hot oven.

Remove the pie crust from the oven and fill with apple mixture, it should be heaping full, cover with uncooked strips of pie crust (see picture)

Reduce heat to 200 °C and bake for 25-30 Minutes in the middle of the oven.

Apple turnovers

Prepare the apples as above. Cut the crust into squares and fill with the Apple mixture, fold the crust over the apples forming triangles, press the open edges closed, poke holes in the top.

Bake at 200 °C for 20 minutes on a lined baking sheet, turn over once after 10 minutes.
